First, on my travels around the county last week placing posters for the Pro-Am, I made it a point to try a cappuccino from every location in search of the best one. I even included some national chains. And let me tell you, Liquid Highway made the best one and it's not because we enjoy working with them. The foam was good, just enough milk, and the esspresso, amazing. That is why they won. The other places served great cappuccino as well, but Liquid Highway beat them on taste. Maybe I'll try next week and see if they stay on top. Anyone up for sponsoring the taste testing? It sure did eat into my budget. But we want to thank all the locations for allowing us to place posters up. There will be a page dedicated to each location once we get time to sit down and do it.

Okay, on another note. I told you we would announce our itinerary for the business/road trip. Here it is:
  • Rocketown in Nashville, TN (7th March) - A skatepark and coffee shop that provides a safe location for youth to hang out and enjoy great music. They also offer special afterschool classes that promote individual growth.
  • The District in Detroit, MI (9th March) - Dance club for young adults that offers classes in personal and spiritual growth. On Sunday nights they host a large group Bible study.
  • Hopefully Mars Hill in Grand Rapids, MI (10th or 11th March) - We are still waiting to here back from them. They have some great afterschool community involvement programs.
  • And Willow Creek in Chicago, IL (12th March) - They are a large respected church with many different programs.
Off The Coast would like to thank Jim Almond and Steve Carlisle for securing hotel reservations in Nashville and Chicago. And to Josh and Cassidy Carlisle for offering up there home as a place to stay in Spring Lake, MI. We have several more cost factors that we need financial assistance with. Please let us know if you would like to help us financially in this very valuable and educational trip. The knowledge we will learn from these successful ventures that are similar to what we want to do here in Greenville is invaluable.

Stay tuned here as we will try updating daily to let you know how things are going. We also released our February Newsletter today, download it on the News/Needs page.

As the world turns, the plans for our educational road trip begin coming to a close. The final itinerary should be available by the beginning of next week. One place needs to confirm the date works for them and another needs to phone us back. We'll let you know!

Off The Coast Ministries has been selected as one of the 52 charities able to sell tickets to the BMW Charity Pro-Am. You can read the official announcement at the BMW Charity Pro-Am website. This is very exciting and we are honored to have been selected. If you are interested in attending the golf tournament, let us know and we will get you tickets. They are $25 each.

We also need to come up with at least 10 volunteers, which should not be a problem. The more volunteers we are able to recruit, the better the chance at being able to participate in the program again next year. Volunteering would be the best way to see the tournament in my opinion. For $40 you get:
  • a golf shirt with tournament logo
  • cap or visor
  • a volunteer credential
  • a guest credential
  • volunteer pin
  • Food and beverage while on duty
  • Access to the volunteer appreciation party
People can volunteer in many different ways. Some ways to help out include transportation, beverage, hospitality, shuttle, scorer, marshal, and caddie. This list describes just a few ways to get involved. Check out the Committee Page on the BMW Charity Pro-Am website for more information and positions available. If you do want to help out, let them know when you register that you are volunteering on behalf of Off The Coast Ministries.

Make sure you check out the other wonderful charities BMW assists through this great golf event. You can find more information at the Official BMW Charity Pro-Am website.

We will be finding out more information this coming Friday on how to sign up volunteers and distribute credentials. Email Tory Almond at tory@offthecoast.org for more information or to put your name on the list to volunteer or purchase credentials.
